Abstract

Sharpening of the image is done to improve image contrast and brightness. This make image clearer and informative also image become more pleasant to human eye. A large number of algorithms have been designed for this purpose like Unsharp masking, Gaussian filters, Stationary Wavelet transform etc. In this study we proposed an algorithm that combines Stationary Wavelet Transform and Unsharp Masking (SWT-UM) Results of the amount of sharpening of an image are measured by using the percentage of rise in values parameter. We observed that there is enormous sharpening in image reproduction by using our proposed algorithm.
