Abstract

Exposure to radon and its daughter (Po-218 and Po-214) is one of the important contributions to radiation doses to members of public. Radon and thoron concentrations in Shut Al- Hella's water, Babylon governorate, were measured by using [RAD7-H2O] radon detector manufactured by DURRIDGE COMBANY Inc. The results show that the higher activity of radon was 0.723 Bq/l in location 13 and low activity are (0.180) Bq/L in location 22. Generally, the thoron concentration is considered negligible because of the short lifetime of the thoron (55.6 sec). The contribution of thoron and its progeny can be ignored
