Abstract

This paper presents the study of different storage systems i.e. File System, Relational Database, distributed database, Parallel database, Object-oriented database, Object-relational database, XML based database and Data warehouse. The advantages and limitations of each type of storage system is presented in the paper. The comparison of various storage system mentioned in the paper is also presented. The comparison is presented on the basis of various parameters like I/O cost, Setup cost, Modularity, etc. Finally, the paper is concluded with the finding on the basis of comparative charts.
